Denver Movers Guide to Spring Cleaning
Professional Denver movers and real estate agents know Spring is a big month for home maintenance in four-season states like Colorado. Many residents are looking to sell their property and move to new neighborhoods that are closer to their workplace, children’s schools, or for a change of scenery altogether.
We can’t stress enough the importance of keeping up with regular home maintenance. Layers of ice, snow, salt, and dirt have covered the outside of your home and can cause damage over time. Regular home maintenance will prevent unnecessary damages to your home and help homeowners uphold their property’s value. With Spring approaching, we thought we’d provide a general home maintenance guide. We’ve opted to focus on Spring but recommend you add a year-round schedule to your calendar.
Spring Cleaning Checklist:
- Check the exterior drainage. Snow melt and rain water should flow away from your home.
- Clean out gutters. Remove leaves, grime, and sediment.
- Check the exterior of your home for paint chippings and any winter damage. Check for holes on brick homes.
- Check the foundation for any cracks. Use caulk if needed.
- Consider having your air conditioning or swamp cooler serviced before the summer.
- Clear dead plants and shrubs from the house. You don’t want overgrown vegetation to cause cracks and holes on the exterior of your home.
- Check trees for interference with electric lines. Have them professionally trimmed if necessary.
- Inspect roof for damage, leaks, etc.
- Check wood decks and fences for rotting.
If you are planning on selling your home, be sure to complete these simple tasks to uphold your property’s value. Read more about Denver movers and real estate brokers in our April 2015 post.
